Ross County: Malky Mackay is appointed manager at Scottish Premiership club

Malky Mackay has been appointed Ross County boss as he lands his first managerial position in six years.

Mackay's last full-time managerial role was at Wigan Athletic where he was sacked after five months.

He succeeds John Hughes, who replaced Stuart Kettlewell at County in December and left on Monday after keeping the club in the top flight.

The Dingwall side say Mackay brings "vast experience, essential leadership skills and strong knowledge of the game".

They added that he is "a respected figure throughout football with extensive contacts that will be essential in developing the next chapter of our club".
