Peter Schmeichel has backed Steve Bruce to become Manchester United's interim manager and he reckons the former Newcastle boss would be 'fantastic' for the role.

The Red Devils are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the weekend following their humiliating 4-1 loss to Watford.

Bruce is reportedly 'very keen' on taking the role on an interim basis and he now has the backing of his former team-mate Schmeichel.
