Pep Guardiola apologises to John Stones for leaving him out in Arsenal win as Manchester City boss stays quiet on new Yaya Toure deal

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has apologised to young defender John Stones after leaving him out for his team's home victory over title-rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

With 22-year-old Stones an unused substitute, City came from behind to beat Arsene Wenger's north Londoners 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium, to move into second position in the Premier League table.

Following Theo Walcott's fifth-minute opener, Leroy Sane equalised for the hosts two minutes after the break, before Raheem Sterling scored an impressive winner in the 71st minute.
