Dimitri Payet to ignite West Ham United after returning from niggling thigh injury

Slaven Bilic is counting on Dimitri Payet to ignite West Ham United as the French playmaker finally returns after playing just 23 minutes for his club this season.

The Hammers are back in action as they host Watford on Saturday, with Payet set to start after testing the water with his fitness for France this week.

Bilic made regular calls to keep tabs on his progress while on international duty and finally feels the time is right to reintroduce Payet after a niggling thigh injury.

The 29-year-old came on as a substitute against Chelsea on the season's opening weekend but has not appeared in claret and blue since, and his manager has likened the concern and caution his club have opted for to Barcelona's handling of Lionel Messi.
