Claudio Ranieri says Arsenal showed no respect to his Watford side in 1-0 defeat at Emirates Stadium after Gunners scored winner after refusing to return ball to Hornets

Watford manager Claudio Ranieri accused Arsenal of lacking ‘respect’ and sportsmanship in the move that led to Emile Smith Rowe’s controversial winner on Saturday.

The Italian was furious about the second-half incident, which saw Watford’s Danny Rose put the ball out of play so that an injured team-mate, Ozan Tufan, could receive treatment.

Instead of returning possession to Watford, Arsenal attacked and eventually scored through Smith Rowe – prompting Ranieri to have cross words with Arsenal manager at the final whistle. His mood was not helped by what appeared to be a separate foul by Ainsley Maitland-Niles on Ismaila Sarr in the build-up to Smith Rowe’s strike.
