Wizards narrowly avoided a disastrous move before parting ways with Marcus Smart

The Washington Wizards have been one of the busiest teams in the league this offseason.

From kicking off the offseason with a blockbuster trade to land CJ McCollum in exchange for Jordan Poole to staying busy on draft night, general manager Will Dawkins has been at the forefront of all the team's decisions over the last few months.

After assembling arguably a top five draft haul, the Wizards continued to find ways to add to their roster by landing former first-round picks Cam Whitmore, Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley.

Shortly after, the Wizards were forced to make a few corresponding moves to trim their roster down to size which led to the buyouts of veterans Richaun Holmes, Marcus Smart and newly acquired Blake Wesley.
