Monday morning, over 300 local veterans and active military personnel filed into Entertainment & Sports Arena as the Wizards hosted their annual Salute to the Stars private practice and Veterans Day event. Those in attendance watched a full team practice, were provided lunch and joined Wizards players and staff in a service project to benefit local military medical centers.
“We look forward to this day every year,” Wizards coach Scott Brooks said. “We salute and honor our veterans. They do so much for us. They protect us. They give us the freedom that we have. To see them come in and enjoy it – and vice versa – our players enjoy doing it as well.
