The Washington Wizards acquired wing Jonathon Simmons and the 42nd overall pick from the Philadelphia 76ers, then used the pick on Tennessee small forward Admiral Schofield during the NBA draft Thursday night.
Washington entered Thursday without a second-round pick. The Wizards dealt their original 2019 second-rounder four years ago when they acquired the draft rights to Kelly Oubre Jr.
Schofield played four seasons for Tennessee, which became one of the highest-ranked teams in college basketball in recent years. The Volunteers advanced to the Sweet 16 last season.
