Many of you, myself included were optimistic about the Washington Mystics this season. We were hoping to see Tina Charles hit the ground running, Ariel Atkins take another step toward being an All-Star, Myisha Hines-Allen take another step forward with her game and see Elena Delle Donne return for much of the season.
While Charles and Atkins have played as well as we could have hoped (despite yesterday’s loss to the Phoenix Mercury), the reality is that the rest of the team hasn’t been up to par, whether it’s because of a down year, injuries or maybe even both.
