After parts of five seasons as head coach of the Washington Wizards, Randy Wittman was reportedly relieved of his duties on Wednesday.
Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post cited a source who said Wittman would not return in 2016-17. Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical noted former Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks was a "strong candidate to replace him."
Wittman led to Wiz to the playoffs in both 2013-14 and 2014-15, and they advanced into the second round each time. He could not build upon that success in 2015-16, though, as Washington went 41-41 and missed the postseason.
