The Washington Wizards selected Texas guard Richard “Tre” Johnson, III at No. 6 overall on Wednesday in the 2025 NBA Draft. Johnson was a five star recruit in high school where he first played in Texas but transferred to Link Academy in Missouri before going to college.
At Texas, Johnson played 33 games, averaging 19.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for the Longhorns. Texas went to the NCAA Tournament’s First Four round in the 2024-25 season.
With Johnson now on the Wizards, he is expected to be a strong perimeter scorer who can play off screens but also make plays in isolation.
