The Washington Mystics lost to the Atlanta Dream 80–70 in a preseason game at CareFirst Arena in Congress Heights. The Dream’s dominant first quarter, outscoring the Mystics 30–10, set the tone for the game. Brittney Griner led Atlanta with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Rhyne Howard added 14 points, including four three-pointers. Nia Coffey contributed 14 points off the bench.
The Mystics struggled early, committing multiple turnovers and shooting poorly from beyond the arc, finishing 3-of-19 from three-point range. Brittney Sykes led Washington with 13 points. In addition, Kiki Iriafen added 12 points and six rebounds. Despite a second-quarter surge, the Mystics couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
