The Washington Mystics are 23-8 and lead the WNBA standings. This is nothing new. However, they now have clinched their best regular season in franchise history, a top-two seed and a berth to the WNBA semifinals. This is because they have three remaining regular season games while the third place Las Vegas Aces and fourth place Los Angeles Sparks have 12 losses each.
Though things are trending up for Washington, they are just one game ahead of the second place Connecticut Sun (22-9). The Sun hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over Washington. And they have a favorable end-of-season schedule with games against the Wings and Fever, not unlike the Mystics who have games against the Wings and Liberty.
