LaToya Sanders named Mystics assistant coach

On Friday, the Washington Mystics announced that LaToya Sanders will be an assistant coach for the team this season. She was previously with Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s Player Development group after retiring as a player earlier this year.

Sanders replaces Asjha Jones, who left to become the Director of Strategy for the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers.

In a press release by the team, General Manager and Head Coach Mike Thibault said the following:

LaToya was an easy and natural choice for this position. She was a great student of the game as a player.
