The WNBA announced on Friday that Ivory Latta won the Dawn Staley Community Leadership Award. It is analogous to the NBA Cares Community Assist Award that John Wall won in the 2015-16 season. Mystics GM and Head Coach Mike Thibault told Latta, who cried after learning the good news.
Latta has taken part in many of Monumental Sports’ initiatives such as a basketball camp held at the United Arab Emirates last winter and is a regular for their community effortsin the area. She also wrote a children’s book, “Despite the Height” that was released this year.
