On Wednesday, the WNBA announced that Washington Mystics forward Elena Delle Donne won the August Eastern Conference Player of the Month. There are three monthly awards each season and Delle Donne won every single one of them.
In August, Delle Donne averaged 20.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while Washington had a 9-2 record. The Mystics are now 24-8, clinched a bye to the semifinals and lead the WNBA regular season standings with two more games to go at home.
Congratulations to Delle Donne on sweeping these awards. I can’t think of anyone else who deserves the Most Valuable Award player this season more than you!
