DAVIS, Calif. – Senior Pono Yanagi paced the Washington State men's golf team during the first round of play at the 2023 El Macero Classic, as the Hilo, Hawaii native carded 1-under par 71 to finish the day in a tie for 15th on the player leaderboard.
Yanagi collected a team-best four birdies in the first round to help him finish the first round at 1-under 71. It is the eighth time during the 2022-23 season that the senior has posted an under-par round. Yanagi goes into Saturday's second round in a tie for 15th place.
