WSU Cougars will reportedly hire Western Kentucky’s JaMarcus Shephard as inside receivers coach

Mike Leach has found David Yost’s replacement for Washington State’s inside receivers coach position, according to Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans.

Evans reported Monday morning that Western Kentucky’s JaMarcus Shephard will become the new inside receivers coach at WSU. Shepard, 32, got his start as a college football coach as a volunteer assistant with the Hilltoppers under Willie Taggart in 2011. Taggart left for South Florida after the 2012 season, but Shepard was retained by the Hilltoppers’ next two head coaches — Bobby Petrino in 2013, and Jeff Brohm in 2014.

After spending the 2012 and 2013 seasons as a quality control assistant, Shephard was elevated to wide receivers coach by Brohm, the current WKU head coach, in 2014.
