TOKYO – A Coug captured gold at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, as Washington State rowing alumni Lisa Roman helped Canada win the gold medal in the women's eight for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Roman, who rowed for WSU from 2010-12 and was inducted into the WSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019, guided Canada to its first gold medal in the women's eight event since the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. The Canadians led from start to finish in the 'A' final against New Zealand, China, the United States, Australia and Romania.
