The 2020 CougCenter WSU Football Preview

Everyone has experienced a high amount of upheaval since the end of the 2019 season, but the Washington State Cougars have gone through more change than most teams.

In his eight years in Pullman, Mike Leach resurrected the program from perhaps its deepest depths, leading the Cougs to bowl games six times — including an unprecedented five consecutive to conclude his time here. Mixed in was an 11-win season and a top-10 finish, heights only exceeded by one other coach in program history: Mike Price.

But now, it’s Nick Rolovich’s program to lead. The former Hawaii coach replaces the Air Raid with its cousin, the Run and Shoot, and there’s a new defensive staff that will attempt to improve what was one of the worst defenses in all of college football last year.
