Strong Performances by WSU Competitors at the Bryan Clay Multis

AZUSA, Calif. -- Washington State's combined events competitors had strong first day performances at the Bryan Clay Invitational Multis Wednesday at Azusa Pacific University's Cougar Stadium.

, a redshirt senior from Doty, Wash., reached a lifetime-best first day heptathlon total of 3400 points for fifth place in Group Four. Brooks-Johnson, a two-time Pac-12 heptathlon champion and 2017 All-American, ran the 100m hurdles in a wind-aided time of 13.88 seconds (3.4 mps) and high jumped 5-feet 6 1/2 (1.69m) which is only 1/2 inch below her PR height. She threw the shot put 38-8 3/4 (11.80m) which is only 1 1/2 inches below her PR distance, and ran the 200m in a time of 24.
