Soccer Stumbles at SMC, Falls 0-1

MORAGA, Calif. – The Washington State women's soccer team lost 0-1 to Saint Mary's College, Wednesday night at Saint Mary's Stadium. The Gaels jumped out to the early lead with a 7th-minute strike, which proved to be the game-winner, holding on against a relentless WSU attack for 83 minutes.

After allowing the second-fastest goal of the season, the Cougars put five shots on target and tallied eight corner kicks but were unable to break through before the final whistle, suffering their first WCC road loss of the season.

Starting goalkeeper made two saves, including early in the match to keep the score temporarily level.
