LAS VEGAS – The No. 25 ranked Washington State Cougars were defeated by the No. 8 ranked Boilermakers of Purdue during the Cougs' opening match at the Rebel Challenge inside Cox Pavilion.
Set scores from the match were: 19-25, 23-25, and 26-28 in favor of the Boilermakers (4-0, 0-0 BIG 10).
The Cougars (0-3, 0-0 Pac-12) were able jump out in front of the Boilermakers in set number one, as a pair of short runs saw WSU leading 8-5. Penny Tusa was right in the middle of the action as she posted a kill and a block assist to get Washington State rolling against the number eight team in the nation.
