SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Washington State University Head Football Coach Mike Leach has been named the Football Bowl Subdivision American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) National Coach of the Year, the organization announced Tuesday.
"This is a great team award and I am honored to accept this on behalf of our team," said Leach.
Leach guided Washington State to an 11-2 record, a No. 10 final ranking in both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls, and a victory in the Valero Alamo Bowl over Iowa State last month.
