FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Jared McAlvey captured the first heat of the 400m Hurdles to automatically qualify for Friday's quarterfinal round to highlight Washington State's opening day at the 2024 NCAA West Preliminary Round Wednesday at John McDonnell Field.
After capturing the 2024 Pac-12 400m Hurdles title two weeks ago, McAlvey was in control every step of the way in his heat. The Cougar senior led coming off the final turn and cruised across the final line in a time of 51.02 seconds, advancing to the NCAA quarterfinal round for the second-straight season.
