Man who drowned Sunday in Lake Washington identified

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man who drowned after jumping off a boat to swim in Lake Washington on Sunday as 32-year-old Daniel Walker.

Witnesses told medics with the Seattle Fire Department that Walker had been on a boat watching the Seafair hydroplane races when he jumped off the 20-foot pleasure boat to swim.

He was not wearing a life vest, said Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore. Moore said people tried to in vain to help Walker when he was later was seen bobbing in the water and calling for help.
