Jimmy Rogers Wins WSU Head Coaching Debut as Cougars Defeat Idaho, 13-10

PULLMAN, Wash. (Aug. 30, 2025) – Redshirt-freshman kicked a 32-yard field goal with three seconds left to lift the Washington State Cougars to a 13-10 win against the Idaho Vandals, Saturday at Gesa Field, giving a win in his head coaching debut for the Cougars.

Making his first career start, WSU quarterback threw for 209 yards, completing 24 of 31 attempts, including six completions on the game-winning 9-play, 59-yard drive after Idaho tied the game at 10 with 1:42 left.

After a scoreless first quarter, WSU drew first blood when Potter connected with Josh Meredith for a six-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead, an advantage the Cougars took into halftime.
