The 21st ranked Washington State women’s soccer team needed overtime on Sunday to keep their loss column empty as they beat Grand Canyon University 1-0 in Pullman. The Cougars (2-0) defense was stellar as they allowed the Lopes (0-2) just two shots during the entire match with their first coming in the 84th minute. The two shots is tied for the second fewest allowed in a game in Cougar history.
Freshman Molly Myers scored her first collegiate goal and the game winner in the 92nd minute off a cross from senior Maddy Haro. She had a chance to put the Cougars up earlier in the match when she hit the post in the 71st minute after beating the defenders on a pass from mid field.
