Fire forces detour on Pacific Crest Trail in Chelan Ranger District

A wildfire in the Chelan Ranger District of Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is forcing the closure of a stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail, with a detour marked for hikers. The closure takes effect Saturday, July 25.

The closure comes during the peak hiking season for the popular West Coast trail that stretches from the Mexican border to the Canadian border.

This information comes from the U.S. Forest Service:

The Blankenship Fire, which started on July 14, has grown to 70 acres and is progressively backing down toward the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). The trail will be closed on the south end at Suiattle Pass, at the junction of the PCT No.
