PULLMAN, Wash. – Freshman provided the Cougars lone victory in a 6-1 loss against No. 20 UCLA Sunday at Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
With the loss, the Cougars fall to 9-10 on the season, 0-5 in conference play. UCLA improves to 10-5, 4-1.
The win by Yusupova, a hard-fought, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Terri Fleming at No. 2, improved her season dual match record to a team-best 13-3, including 3-0 in Pac-12 play. She has won six straight, is unbeaten in her last nine matches, and became the first Cougar to defeat both USC and UCLA in the same season since Nora Gaal accomplished the feat in 2002.
