Cougars Clinch Win in Shulenberger’s 200th Match

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Washington State women's soccer team defeated UC San Diego, 1-0 Thursday evening at Triton Soccer Stadium in San Diego, California. The Cougars celebrated WSU Head Coach 's 200th career match at the helm of the program with a second-half goal from redshirt-senior .

Young, a transfer from California, scored her first goal of the season in the 60th minute when she picked off a passing miscue between the UCSD goalkeeper and backline and delivered a composed left-footed finish into the open goal from 18 yards out.

The Martinez, California native nearly scored in the opening moments of the match, shooting from a tough angle less than 60 seconds after the opening whistle, which grazed the top of the crossbar.
