With Apple Cup week here, I caught up with former Washington State quarterback Ryan Leaf on Schooled with the Professor.
Leaf was the perfect Cougar to discuss the WSU-UW rivalry. Leaf recalls his first start against the Huskies in 1995 in great detail, then takes us through the three-year process of getting the Cougars to the point in which they could win the Apple Cup. In 1997, the Leaf-led Cougars beat Brock Huard’s Huskies, won the Pac-10 title and made a trip to the Rose Bowl.
Looking at this Saturday’s game, Leaf gives a great scouting report about current WSU quarterback Luke Falk, whom he respects for his toughness and leadership.
