Bill Moos, heralded as the potential savior of the Washington State Cougars’ athletics deprment when he was lured out of retirement to become the school’s athletics director back in 2010, has suddenly and shockingly left his alma mater to become to the new AD at Nebraska.

He leaves quite the legacy in Pullman, having overseen the construction of major facilities upgrades and spearheaded the hiring of Mike Leach to coach football, decisions that have paid major dividends on the field.

However, the school is saddled with debt and a large annual budget deficit, meaning university president Kirk Schulz will have quite the task on his hands going forward, trying to hire someone who both is up to the task of reducing the budget deficit while also keeping the school’s programs competitive — which includes making sure Leach feels completely comfortable.
