CHARLESTON, S.C. – Washington State freshman captured a straight-set victory in the opening round of the ITF Charleston event at the LTP Tennis Club.
Bayerlova, from Krumbach, Germany, fought early before pulling away against Ingrid Gamarra Martins of Brazil, 7-6, 6-1. In the first-set tiebreaker, Bayerlova trailed 4-0 before winning the final seven points to capture the set. She then cruised to the victory and advanced to Thursday's second round.
