BERKELEY, Calif. – The No. 21 Washington State women's soccer team (8-2-2, 2-1-1) lost to the California Golden Bears, 2-1, Thursday afternoon at Edwards Field in Berkeley, Calif. The loss was the Cougars' first of conference play and first since Aug. 18. Senior scored WSU's goal in the 89th minute, spoiling Cal's shutout.
The Golden Bears went up early; in the 11th minute, the Bears broke free down the right side. UC's Ayo Oke sent a dangerous through ball in to Cal's Keely Roy who split the WSU backline and finished from the top of the box for the early lead.
