Redskins place Rodgers-Cromartie on injured reserve, sign Noah Spence

The Washington Redskins placed cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on injured reserve Wednesday with an ankle injury and signed outside linebacker Noah Spence in a corresponding move.

Rodgers-Cromartie’s injury was the latest setback to Washington’s secondary as Quinton Dunbar (knee) and Fabian Moreau (ankle) have also missed time this season.

The 33-year-old started Sunday’s loss against the Dallas Cowboys and played 55 defensive snaps. But early on, Rodgers-Cromartie limped off the field and, though he returned, he played hurt the rest of the game. The Athletic reported the veteran tore ligaments in his ankle. He also limped off in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
