Redskins name Case Keenum starter for regular season

ASHBURN — The Washington Redskins named Case Keenum as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season, coach Jay Gruden said Sunday. Keenum will start Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Keenum, who was acquired in the offseason from the Denver Broncos, has received most of the Redskins’ first-team reps throughout the summer. He has also started all three preseason games for the Redskins.

Gruden said Keenum had picked up the offense extremely well.

Keenum is coming off a one-year stint with the Denver Broncos. In 16 games, the 31-year-old threw for 3,890 yards and 18 touchdowns with 15 interceptions.
