Joe Ross set a new mark for consecutive scoreless innings by a Washington Nationals’ pitcher this season, with 17 1⁄3 overall after he was done with six scoreless tonight in a second consecutive Nats’ win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Ross finally allowed a run with two out in the top of the seventh inning, in the second of three with the Reds in D.C., but the Nationals were up 3-1 at that point, and they held on, winning their third straight game overall.
Ross vs the Reds: Was the Joe Ross of the last two outings (11 1⁄3 scoreless) a new Joe Ross, or did he just go up against two scuffling teams (the D-backs and Giants) at the right time?
