Washington Nationals reportedly sign Brian Dozier to 1-year/$9M deal...

According to multiple reports this morning, including one by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Washington Nationals have agreed to a 1-year/$9M free agent deal with second baseman Brian Dozier.

The signing follows months of rumors that the Nationals were in the market for a second baseman, though the Nats were clear that they were happy with the in-house options (like Howie Kendrick, Wilmer Difo, Carter Kieboom, and Luis Garcia), if they couldn’t find the right fit on the free agent market or in a trade.

“If there was a definite everyday second baseman that we liked that we thought was an upgrade, we would certainly consider that,” Nats’ GM Mike Rizzo told reporters in Las Vegas.
