Washington Nationals call Fernando Rodney & Jonny Venters up; add veteran relievers to bullpen mix...

In 68 games and 64 13 innings on the mound for Minnesota’s Twins and the Oakland A’s in 2018, Fernando Rodney put up a 3.36 ERA, a 4.03 FIP, 32 walks (4.48 BB/9), and 70 Ks (9.79 K/9). Rodney struggled this season with the Athletics, however, with a 9.42 ERA, a 5.56 FIP, 12 walks (7.53 BB/9), and 14 Ks (8.79 K/9) in 17 games and 14 13 IP before he was released on May 28th.

A’s skipper Bob Melvin told reporters after Rodney’s release that it was hard to find innings for the 42-year-old reliever, who struggled to adjust in an undefined role.
