It was all-but official already, but this afternoon Nationals’ skipper Davey Martinez said that it will be Max Scherzer starting for Washington in the Wild Card Game on Tuesday, though the opponent and venue are still being determined this weekend.
Nats’ GM Mike Rizzo said it was likely going to be Scherzer on 106.7 the FAN in D.C.’s Sports Junkies this week, explaining that things were lined up for the right-hander to start the win-or-go-home matchup.
