Scherzer's viral tweet says players won't engage with MLB on more pay cuts

The latest blow in the back and forth between Major League Baseball and its players’ association about negotiating a return to play in 2020 came in the form of a message from Washington Nationals star pitcher Max Scherzer.

Scherzer tweeted late Wednesday that he and other players have decided there’s “no reason” to continue to engage with MLB owners about taking a second pay cut, and his tweet quickly garnered 20,000 likes and more than 3,500 retweets.

“After discussing the latest developments with the rest of the players there’s no reason to engage with MLB in any further compensation reductions,” Scherzer wrote.
