Nationals have a moment of silence for McCain

The Washington Nationals had a moment of silence before Friday’s game for Arizona Sen. John McCain, who died Aug. 25 at the age of 81.

It was the first home game for the Nationals since he passed away.

The public address announcement informed fans that he was an avid baseball fan and was a regular at Nationals Park.

That was certainly the case when the Arizona Diamondbacks made their one visit to Washington each season.

His connections to sports went beyond baseball. Cardinals football star Larry Fitzgerald was asked to speak at services this week for McCain.
