Nationals bringing back reliever Hudson on two-year deal: reports

The Washington Nationals agreed to a two-year, $11 million deal to re-sign relief pitcher Daniel Hudson, multiple reports said Monday.

The Nationals acquired Hudson and two other relievers at the 2019 trade deadline to bolster a terrible bullpen. But of those three, it was Hudson who made the biggest mark. He was given closer duties by the end of the regular season, shifting Sean Doolittle into an eighth-inning setup role, and Washington’s bullpen held strong all the way to a World Series. Hudson recorded the last out in Game 7 against the Houston Astros for the Nationals’ first title in franchise history.
