Mat Latos is staying in the Nationals organization and will be back in the Majors in September. The veteran right-hander, who signed a Minor League deal in June that included an opt-out clause if he was not in the Majors by Monday, will not exercise that and will remain with Washington, according to multiple reports.
The Nationals have not confirmed or commented on Latos' decision.
Latos, 28, opened the season 4-0 with an 0.74 ERA in four starts for the White Sox before posting a 7.26 ERA over his next six outings and being released in June.
