Kendrick comes up big again for Nationals

Howie Kendrick, a man without a position, knows what to do when he gets in the batter’s box.

The veteran right-handed basher smoked a two-run double to give the Nationals a 4-0 lead against the St. Louis Cardinals in the last of the third inning Monday in the National League Championship Series at Nationals Park.

Kendrick, starting at second base Monday, had a grand slam against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday as the Nationals stormed back to win Game 5 in the NLCS 7-3 in 10 innings. He has struggled on defense but his bat is too good to be on the bench.
