Juan Soto homers twice as Nationals edge Yankees

NEW YORK – Some Yankee fans came to boo Bryce Harper, the Nationals center fielder on Wednesday night. Instead, those fans were silenced by rookie left fielder Juan Soto, a 19-year-old playing in just his 20th big league game.

Soto hit two home runs in the same game for the first time, including a 436-foot shot in the seventh inning that proved to be the game-winning run and the Nationals held on to beat the red-hot New York Yankees 5-4 and split the two-game series.

Washington won despite having five runners thrown out on the bases.
