Jayson Werth placed on disabled list

Adam Eaton was last seen buzzing around on a scooter because of his season-ending ACL injury. Chris Heisey’s ruptured biceps tendon had left him black and blue and on the disabled list.

Add Jayson Werth to the thinning of the Washington Nationals’ outfield. Werth was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday because of a left foot contusion. The 37-year-old outfielder fouled a pitch off his toe in the ninth inning of Saturday’s game against the Oakland Athletics. The deflection has led to Werth being shelved for the time being.

Werth was moved into the No. 2 spot in the batting order following Eaton’s injury.
