Erick Fedde impressed in his 2019 Grapefruit League debut and the Nationals’ NRIs pounded Cards’ pitching in a 12-2 win.

It was a long one this afternoon, in spite of the pitch clock [giggles] and the Washington Nationals came out on top in the end, 12-2.

Erick Fedde tossed two clean innings to start things off against St. Louis’s Cardinals, Victor Robles showed some patience at the plate, Koda Glover struggled to throw strikes, and Brian Dozier connected on his first hit as a National. Then the NRIs piled on late...

• Erick Fedde’s 2019 Grapefruit League campaign got off to a solid start with a 12-pitch, 1-2-3 first. Fedde picked up his second K of the day with a 2-2 slider outside that fooled Cardinals’ outfielder Tyler O’Neill, but gave up a one-out triple into the right-center gap on a 2-2 pitch to Drew Robinson that was up in the zone and got smoked.
