The Nationals made their biggest free-agent signing since landing Max Scherzer in January 2015, inking Patrick Corbin to a 6-year, $140 million deal this afternoon (as per Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post).

Patrick Corbin is likely to get the biggest pitching contract of the winter, and usually a player in that position is under some inherent obligation to take the most significant offer, for the sake of the Players Association.
